Just a 12-minute drive up US 101 from The Whaler, visit Yaquina Head, one of Oregon’s most beautiful locations, to view the ocean and observe whales, seals, nesting birds, and other wildlife in their natural environment. It is located on a narrow point of land jutting into the Pacific Ocean at the north end of Newport.

There, you’ll find Oregon’s tallest lighthouse, the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. It was built in 1872 and its light continues to guide ships to this day. Visit the Yaquina Head Interpretive Center to learn about the history of Yaquina Head.
